The president of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev and his Georgian counterpart, Mikheil Saakashvili, have met at the OSCE summit in Kazakhstan, ANS reports.Both presidents are satisfied with successful development of strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Georgia in all spheres. They discussed mutual projects in the spheres of energy and economy.

Unified control post to open on Georgian-Azerbaijani border

Azerbaijan and Georgia will open a unified control post, the managerof the Azerbaijani project for the support of systems of integratedborder control, Mazakhir Efendiyev, said, Trend reports.The project is being realized with the financial support of the EU andan UN development program, together with the Azerbaijani government.The work started in September.

Azerbaijani president meets Georgian foreign minister

Azerbaijani President Ilkham Aliyev met Georgian Foreign Minister Grigol Vashadze on Wednesday, AzerTag reports. Aliyev said that cooperation between Azerbaijan and Georgia was a success in all spheres. Vashadze noted the importance of discussing cooperation issues, particularly in international organizations on such issues as territorial unity.

SOCAR exports 207 million cubic meters of gas in first half-year to Georgia

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) exported about 207 million cubic meters of Azerbaijani gas to Georgia in the period from January to June, Business Gruzia cites a SOCAR publication. In June SOCAR exported more than 11.5 million cubic meters of Azerbaijani gas to Georgia. An agreement between Azerbaijan and Georgia, according to which the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijani Republic could increase its participation in the Georgian market, was signed in November 2008.

The foreign ministers of the EU approved a special document onrelations with Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia. EU to start negotiations with South Caucasian countries

Negotiations between the European Union and the countries of the South Caucasus on an association agreement between the EU, Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia will start in July, Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister Karine Kazinyan said, Armenia Today reports.She recalled that the mandate for negotiations was approved on May 12th by the council of foreign ministers from 27 countries. The negotiations will involve a wide range of issues, mainly political, economic reforms, justice, and human rights.

The 27-member EU council of foreign ministers has issued a mandate for negotiations on bilateral agreements between the EU and Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia, RIA Novosti reports, citing a spokesman from the council.The agreement on the association, which does not provide for EU membership, replaces bilateral agreements on partnership and cooperation.The decision was made by the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the EU, Catherine Ashton.
